This new Wooden Shjips track

Posted by Jason Diamond

I’m an ardent supporter of anything the San Francisco band Wooden Shjips decided to do — as long as they decide to keep making songs that sound like this.

Listen: Wooden Shjips – “Lazy Bones”

“Lazy Bones” really just sounds like a continuation from their last full-length album, 2009’s Dos (and that’s totally alright by me).  They still remind me a lot of space rock pioneers Hawkwind, except combined with Suicide: droning, repetitive, a little ominous, and nearly perfect.  Their next LP, West, is out September 13th on Thrill Jockey.  You should download this track, and start a playlist entitled “The Dog Days of Summer.”
